Season
Cowboys looking for injured
players to come back in week 2
Week 1
Anyone who saw the Dallas Cowboys-Washington
Redskins opener realized that the offense
did not have any cohesiveness. Given the
injuries to Marc Colombo and Kyle Kosier
it is understandable that the more quick
passes would be thrown in the first half
until there could be a real gauge of how
the offensive line was playing. The line
played ok in the first half so it was expected
the unit would have some more vertical plays
called down the field in the second half.
The lack of execution for the offensive
line became evident in the second half after
numerous penalties were assessed trying
to fight back to take the lead. The goat
was former first round draft pick Alex Barron.
It is so vital to have an offensive line
that is in sync and putting in players that
do not have the talent or discipline will
cause the entire unit to play badly. So
in week 2 against the Bears there is optimism
that Marc Colombo and Kyle Kosier will be
back in the starting lineup. The opener
was Kosier's first absence since he signed
with Dallas in 2006. Marc Colombo started
57 straight games after becoming a starter
in 2006 until breaking a leg in Week 9 of
2009.

Cowboys deliver fine performance in
must win game against Texans
Week 3
The Dallas Cowboys were in a must win situation
going into their bye week against the Houston
Texans and played an excellent game in a
27-13 victory. The coaching staff went out
on a limb the first drive of the game attempting
two fourth and short attempts. On one the
offense was successful and the other they
failed on. Tony Romo was pretty accurate
against the Texans going for 23/30 for 284
yards and 2 touchdowns. The rushing game
showed some life going for 101 yards total
and a clip of 3.7 yards per carry. Being
that the Texans have a porous defensive
secondary it is encouraging to see Jason
Garrett stick with the run. The defense
was great finally forcing their first of
three turnovers for the season. Demarcus
Ware had three sacks as Matt Schaub was
constantly under pressure. Overall the defense
only surrendered 340 yards total and many
of that was in meaningless time after the
game was decided. Now comes the bye week
as Dallas has two weeks to prepare for the
Tennessee Titans.

Cowboys hurt themselves with penalties
and turnovers
Week 5
The Dallas Cowboys had two weeks to prepare
for the Tennessee Titans but ended up losing
34-27. That preparation did not add up to
a victory. The Cowboys committed multiple
penalties and turnovers. The undisciplined
play led to 12 penalties for 133 yards.
There was also three interceptions thrown
by Tony Romo. Vince Young and Chris Johnson
played excellent taking advantage of Dallas
miscues. The Cowboys need to start winning
now as the window is slipping on qualifying
for the postseason.
